My name is Robert Ogden. I am a parent of five wonderful children. It’s a job title that comes with incredible adventures and gigantic responsibilities. I, along with my wonderful wife, have maneuvered the processes of special education for three of our children that have significant special needs. We have gone through the process of adopting, as well as gaining guardianship. The services available are amazing, and if you need some help acquiring services, I am happy to help with that as well. There is no charge for those specific services at this time, as we really just point you in the right direction(s).
For just under two decades, I have devoted my life to public education. I have done this as a public educator, an educational consultant, and as a parent advocate. I support support the success of students in public education. I did this as a special education teacher in a program specifically designed for students that needed a placement in a separate school, the most restrictive environment. I also taught special education to students in the life skills setting in a public school of nearly 3,000 students, and, in that same school, I helped design and implemented a program for students on the autism spectrum that were academically commensurate with their peers, but needed help knocking down obstacles that the social setting presented. This involved a great deal of time helping teachers develop their skills, as well as building up the social competence of students.
My success as a teacher created opportunities for me to move into administrative roles, both in special education administration, and in campus administration. I sleep well at night knowing that I consistently put the needs of students at the center of my decision making. The only way to do that was to ensure that parents were a well informed part of the decision making process and key members of the educational team. Parents know their children better than anyone else.
In 2020, I decided that I needed a change, and I was unwilling to seek a career that did not include helping others, so I opted to devote my time to helping parents that might not be experiencing what it is to be a part of an effective educational team for their child. As an believer in public education, I have also sought to help schools create better systems so that parents don’t have those types of experiences. Please reach out if you need help.
